📜 Story & Setting:

You take on the role of the 16-year-old child of the legendary hero Ortega. On your birthday, the king of Aliahan orders you to take up the legacy of your missing father and defeat the evil archdemon Baramos. What begins as saving the world develops into an epic adventure with one of the most famous plot twists in video game history, directly linked to the events of Dragon Quest I & II.

🎮 Gameplay & Features:

• Free vocation & class system: Recruit your companions in Luida’s Tavern and choose from vocations like Warrior, Mage, Cleric, Martial Artist, Thief, Merchant, or Jester. Later on, characters can be retrained at the Dharma Temple to dominate fights while retaining spells!

• Personality system: For the first time, personality traits (determined by a psyche test at the start) influence the stat development of your characters.

• Extensive remake: The SNES version offers completely new graphics on the level of DQ VI, expanded soundtracks, the popular "Sugoroku" mini-game (parchisi board game), and a secret post-game dungeon world.

🌟 Development & Trivia:

• Audiovisual masterpiece: Created by the legendary trio Yuji Horii (story/design), Akira Toriyama (artworks), and Koichi Sugiyama (music). The remake uses the graphics engine from Dragon Quest VI and is considered one of the most beautiful RPGs of the late Super Famicom era (December 1996) both graphically and gameplay-wise.

• A piece of cultural history: The 1988 Famicom original was such a mass phenomenon in Japan with kilometer-long lines and schoolyard rumors that it was said Enix would only be allowed to release Dragon Quest games on weekends in the future. The SNES remake crowned this monument.
